Family Support Partners

Strengthening Families House

One of the most powerful things for a parent or guardian, who is raising a child with mental health or behavioral health disorders, is connecting with another parent who understands what it’s like to be on that journey. This is the premise for a Family Support Partner (FSP).

The Family Support Partner is currently or has been the parent or primary caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges who has completed the required training and certification process. An ideal candidate is sensitive, respectful, and responsive to the values, cultural background, and life experience of each family. Focus is on empowerment to move toward independence through skill building intervention, accessing and utilizing community resources, collaboration with service providers, and increasing parenting confidence.
