Topic: Screen Time Health:Create Awareness, Build Connection, Avoid Battle
Constantly being plugged into technology and its effects on people and culture is one of the main issues of our time. It is important that we humanize ourselves with this issue and let our children know that we as adults are also struggling to know how to balance our lives with all of the technology that is available. There is so much fear surrounding this issue and lots of research pointing to screen time as a factor in declining mental health. Parents and kids are often locked in power struggles over screen use. However, not all screen time is equal.
Sometimes we use technology as a creative and connecting tool and other times it is an unhealthy tether, or an escape that is hard to break away from.
In this webinar you will learn how to strike a balance between the two. You will learn how to collaborate with your family to honestly assess each member’s screen habits. You will then be able to model a new level of self-awareness with your own screen use and begin to cultivate this awareness in your children.
We will also discuss some of the physical, social and psychological effects of screen use that is out-of-balance. You will learn how to use a tool called the Healthy Mind Platter to ensure you are creating conditions in your home for optimum brain health.
Once you are more in tune with our own screen habits, you will understand how to best model for your kids. From this space you can educate, create awareness and get buy-in that leads to self-regulation. Once you move away from power struggle and using screen time as reward and punishment, you can actually use the good parts of technology to deepen your connection with your children and move away from fear and struggles into greater joy on the parent/child journey.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
